Mount Kilimanjaro Hikes
Want to tick something truly epic off your bucket list? What could be more epic than climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world and also known as the “Mountain of Greatness”?
While you may have your own reason for wanting to climb Kilimanjaro, one thing is common among all those who visit – the desire to stand on the highest peak of Africa. Located 200 miles (325 km) from the equator, the mountain defies logic with its crown of ice. Climbing Kilimanjaro does not require specialist technical skills or equipment, just a good level of fitness and determination.
IVHQ volunteers have the option of three different routes, depending on how long you want to spend on the trek:
Marangu Route |
5 days - prices start at US$1300 for the full trek |
Machame Route |
6 days - prices start at US$1450 for the full trek |
Lemosho Route |
7 days - prices start at US$1720 for the full trek |
All Kilimanjaro hikes include:
- Return private transport from the accommodation in Arusha.
- Park entry fees
- Camping fees
- Team Kilimanjaro Rescue fees
- 18% VAT on Tour fees and Services
- Guides and cooks allowances
- Mountain tents
- Double layered sleeping mats and sleeping bags
- Friendly and professional mountain guides, cook and porters
- 3 hot meals daily while on the mountain
- Treated and filtered drinking water throughout the trek
- Hot water for washing
- Portable oxygen tanks and oxygen meter
- Emergency first-aid kit
It’s important to keep in mind that the prices are quoted for a minimum number of volunteers taking part on the tour. If there are fewer volunteers taking part on the tour, the cost will be higher. Any difference will need to be paid directly to the local team in Tanzania before starting the tour. You will be notified at your program orientation if there is any extra amount to be paid.
