Why join a Sports volunteer project abroad?
In many communities around the world, children and teens often do not have access to structured physical education and development opportunities. Schools and after-school programs are often strapped for resources, and as a result, sports education and development is not a priority.
As a youth sports volunteer, you’ll support local teachers by putting structure and creativity around sports and physical education programs. This is an opportunity to be creative in the way you teach youth and teens about international sports and sportsmanship, whether it be through basketball, rugby and other sports, or through interactive games.
As a Sports volunteer, you’ll ensure individuals in low income communities are active and engaged in physical activity. Your volunteering efforts will work towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals #3: Good Health & Wellbeing and #4: Quality Education.
”My project was amazing. I am so glad to have chosen the Surf Outreach program because I had the opportunity to surf every morning and swim with the kids in the afternoon and they also allowed us to go to school with the kids instead if we wanted to spend more time with them! I feel like I have joined another family by living with the other volunteers. I feel like I have gained many little brothers and sisters (the kids), who have shared their stories and gave me another perspective on life, and this experience will forever resonate in my actions.”
