In and Around Livingstone
The IVHQ Zambia program is based in a laidback town of Livingstone, just 11 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls. Boasting a wealth of wildlife, safari and adventure activities, Zambia is a popular destination for travelers in Africa to explore.
Victoria Falls
As one of the largest and most magnificent waterfalls on the planet, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Victoria Falls is an un-missable destination for all IVHQers in Zambia! Capture the magic of the falls on foot, or take a microflight ride overhead for an up close encounter with this Natural Wonder!
Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park
With 20 national parks and 30% of the country reserved for wildlife, the national parks of Zambia rank among some of the best in the world. Jump on a guided safai tour to explore the popular park of Mosi-oa-Tunya and encounter an extensive range of native wildlife, including the Africa ‘Big 5’ (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo).
Zambezi River
Whether you’re into bungee jumping, whitewater rafting, or gorge swinging, there is no shortage of extreme sports on offer with the Zambezi River as your backyard! Or if river cruising is more your thing, settle for a sunset cruise along the Zambezi river, against a spectacular African sunset, in the midst of native wildlife, including hippo and crocodile!

While volunteering in Zambia, volunteers can take advantage of the opportunity to travel further afield to see more of what the area has to offer. Zimbabwe
One of the highlights of staying in Livingstone is the ability to jump the border to Zimbabwe and spend a day exploring life the Zim-side of the falls. Just keep in mind that you will need to purchase a day visa at the border and a re-entry visa to get back into Zambia.
Namibia
Whether you want to encounter stunning wildlife in the world’s most incredible national parks, or catch a sunrise a top of the world’s highest dunes, you’re sure to capture many a memorable moment on a trip to Namibia! The harbor town of Walvis Bay is also a popular spot for volunteers, boasting an abundance of bird life and endless recreational activities, including dolphin cruises and sea kayaking.
